Weddings | What is my style

Choosing a wedding photographer is a big deal for any couple.  This is your big day and you won’t be having a practice run!

Whom ever you choose and I’m not saying it has to me, just make sure that it feels right for you.  There is a lot of choice out there now, which is great.  So many different styles and personalities.  Not only do you want images you love but you also want someone that you are going to enjoy having around on the day and I don’t mean we’ll be sitting down having a chat over a glass of bubbles!  What I do mean is that you want to make sure you have a similar mind set to your photographer and that you can see them fitting in with your day and actually getting on with them so you enjoy the whole experience of your wedding photography.

I got married 12 years ago now (that makes me feel old!) and I still remember how awesome my photographer was.  He was exactly what I was after, I wanted no posing and everything to be very natural.  I wasn’t interested in spending hours getting that one amazing instagram couple shot, not that instagram was around then!  I didn’t want to be bossed around and put into awkward skipping poses with my bridesmaids.  I just wanted natural and happy images that documented the love and fun of the day and that is exactly what I got.  On the other hand I do remember how rude and annoying our videographer was and i’m not saying i’m anti videographer’s at all, he just happened to be very annoying!  My point is I remember the people I chose really well, the good and the bad.  Although we can have a laugh about the grumpy videographer now!

I only take on a limited amount of weddings a year which means I can give you my fully attention!  I like to meet up with my couples before you book me in, so that we can make sure we’re a good fit.  If you decide that i’m the wedding photographer for you (Yay,  I won’t let you down!) then I get you booked in and we will have another meeting in person or via Skype if it’s easier to go through all the schedule and make sure the run sheet is all in order a few weeks before your wedding date.  This makes for a smooth sailing wedding day.  I am always available for any questions and I will happily work closely with the couple and/or wedding planner/event organiser if one is engaged.

On your day I strive to get as much of your day covered as possible in an unobtrusive way.  I often work alone but i’m also happy to work with a second photographer.  I have a few great ones I can call upon.  Like my family photography I don’t like to pose and set things up unless absolutely necessary.  I just like to capture beautiful natural images that you can look back on in years to come and remember how amazing your day was with all your friends and family.  I spend less time on setting up group shots and more time on capturing moments as they unfold around me.

I will of course spend a bit of time with just the bride and groom getting you some stunning shots. I aim to give you just the right amount of guidance so you feel comfortable and not standing there unsure what to do! One of my tips for amazing photos would be to try and factor in at least 20 minutes for your photos at golden hour (one hour before sunset). This will make for some truly beautiful images and also gives you a bit of time to relax and be on your own which can be good!

I hope that gives you a small insight into me and how I work.  This is early day’s for my website and i’m new to the whole blogging thing!  I will blog a full wedding soon so that you can see a little more into a full day with me.
